Gulf Marine Protein Inc. (“GMP”) is a newly formed company that is set to produce Advanced Fish Protein in order to tap into unmet market needs for fishmeal and fish oil globally. ADVANCED FISH PROTEIN
After evaluating the current methodologies of conventional fishing operations and processing plants, GMP has designed and procured the technologies to produce what we term as “Advanced Fish Protein” in the forms of high-quality Menhaden fishmeal, fish oil and high calcium bone meal. Our fishing operations are designed to provide a superior raw material to our plant operations. The advanced technologies, both process and equipment, found throughout the plant will then convert this raw material into a superior product market by better quality and digestibility of the fishmeal and fish oil produced. Given the low carbon footprint associated with GMP’s production processes, as well as the low greenhouse gas emissions, each production facility is projected to generate carbon credits.

BENCHMARK AEROSPACE LLC
Benchmark Aerospace is developing a new revolutionary aircraft for fish spotting applications.
In partnership with Lange Research GMBH in Germany, the new aircraft has a combination of Ethanol-Fuel Cell-Electric motor propulsion, capable to deliver a minimum operating cost per hour and an endurance of 40 hours of flight with one fuel tank-fuel cell charge.
The prototype, twin electric engines is due for maiden flight in August 2019 and when in production will be assembled in North Carolina.
As part of the Golder Global Engineering and Environmental Team, the Environmental and Social Assessment Group will help the company secure all environmental permits and licenses. Golder’s multidisciplinary teams deliver the full integration of engineering, archaeological, ecological, environmental, and social management services that may be required as part of the “social license” process. The key differentiating processing technologies (equipment) to be deployed in GMP’s plant operations are as follows:
Low temperature indirect heat drying with extremely low product residence time.
- Heat recovery system using a Waste Heat Evaporator that includes built-in high-efficiency pollution control devices and reduces operating energy costs by 50% compared to standard drying systems.
- Benchmark Design TASTE™ evaporator that is designed to produce high-digestibility protein concentrate using single-pass low temperature and short residence time to ensure product quality and high energy efficiencies.
- 14 newly refurbished fishing vessels with state of the art navigation and radio equipment. Vessels are prepared to run on bio-diesel.
- 6 newly refurbished spotting aircrafts especially modified for fish searching. Aircrafts have state of the art avionics and are prepared to run on bio-diesel.
In addition to this equipment, a number of operating designs and procedures contribute to quality meal and oil recovery, which in turn lead to higher revenue generation and margins.
- The plant design features low temperature cookers with heat recovery vapor to pre-heat the cool inbound product.
- The pressing system is designed to process quality fish product, but can handle upsets in fish quality should it occur.
The fishing operations design, logistics and Management Information Systems (“MIS”) helps control the quality of the raw material and shortens the time to initial processing. This results in significantly improvements in oil recovery rates and protein meal quality.
advanced enviromental and water management control
The plant utilizes several advanced new Air Quality Control Systems (AQCS) to manage the greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e). Air pollution innovations at the plant include incorporating a waste heat evaporator (patented) as a first phase scrubber that, when combined with a bio-scrubber, controls the emissions and minimizes the odor footprint.
Waste water treatment includes an advanced bio-digester which reduces COD & BOD loads and produces renewable bio-methane. This bio-gas is then used to power the boiler to produce steam and electricity. After the bio-digester, the leftover water is recirculated to the process. The recirculation allows less consumption of fresh water and results in a more sustainable operation overall.
